Our design and implementation is rooted in our core values at Beacon, which are being outstanding, showing kindness, respect, duty, Joy and humility.
All children have the right to a broad, balanced and relevant education that provides continuity, progression and allows them to flourish in areas of their natural talent while developing the understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills that will serve them throughout their lives. We plan our curriculum in ways that inspire, motivate, and meet the social and emotional needs of our children considering individual differences to ensure success.
The BCI school system has four distinct phases
Our Early Year department follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum of the British National Curriculum, and caters to children from ages one to five.
Sectioned into Key Stages 1 and 2, the Primary School serves students from Year 1 to Year 6 (ages 5 to 11), with Key Stage 1 consisting of learners from Year 1 and Year 2 (ages 5-7), and Key Stage 2 comprising learners from Year 3 to Year 6 (ages 7-11).
Also known as Key Stage 3, our lower secondary program is developed for the next three years of study in Forms 1 to 3 which corresponds with England’s Years 7 to 9, with learners aged between 11 to 14 years.
The curriculum follows the British educational model. In the Upper Secondary section, courses are accredited through IGCSE examinations at age 16 and GCE Advanced Level exams at age 18
The assessment of students’ knowledge, skills and abilities is an integral part of learning and teaching. The purpose of assessment is to support the development of each individual student.
Continuous feedback encourages and directs students to lead their own studies and guides them to study independently and purposefully. This supports the growth of students as individuals and helps them to plan their future.
